Baobab

Baobab was huge and vain. It stood by a pool staring at its fat wrinkled face all day.
It kept complaining that the Congo Basin was not beautiful enough, it complained of excessive dampness of the marshes. At last, god pulled it up and replanted it on the ‘Mountains of the Moon’, where it started complaining about the animals around being too loud and the ground being too uneven. Greatly angered by the continued moaning, god again uprooted the tree and flung it far and wide; it landed upside down in the drier parts of the world.
Its roots up in the air, its head deep in the ground, never to be heard again.
